Outspoken people at the airport and a New Home

Sorry for the poor quality (drawing and scanner-wise). I drew this in the plane and we had a rather turbulent, wiggly flight (it’s ok, I generally enjoy that actually, with my naive trust in science and technology). Also, the reduced pressure (?) did weird things with my ink brush pen - it bled like hell!

I’m visiting my family in Austria for a few days and won’t have a scanner after today. But I’ll try to draw some little comics which I can upload when I’m home again.
You'll find them at another place though! E*phi=log: (for various reasons) gets fused with ask-ephi and moves to a NEW HOME! I really hope you all come with me because I'd miss you a lot! Meet Mona

We had some sort of white elephant gift exchange raffle on our X-mas party last night. I got a very practical huge rubber tit. Needless to say I'd been dancing all night swinging it around. It was a huge hit with everyone. That tit has made a lot of friends and fans. And it keeps disturbing meeting people at my home:

It did get awfully dirty with all the hard partying and being thrown around and stuff. And it's super hard to clean! Googling "how to clean filthy rubber tit" didn't bring very helpful results...

I know I don't post much these days. It's not only that I've been working insane hours. I've actually been drawing till... very late almost every night after work. However, it's commission stuff for "internal purposes". But here's a little thing to give you an idea what it's all about. ;)

Now, I don't have much time to draw but this needed to leave my system. I mean, would you believe your spaghetti could be evil sexist homophobes (or well, made by such)? Obviously, pasta-maker Barilla doesn't want our money... But that's OK. It's not like they have a monopole on pasta as far as I know.
Please don't support a homophobe company who also likes to emphasize that women have "their place" (behind a stove, cooking pasta for a family. Not a gay one though!). Buy your pasta elsewhere - and better even: let them know.

Sharing makgeolli (and other things)

Makgeolli is the best! This shit is *peeeep* delicious! I'm kinda glad we don't have it here - probably saved me from becoming an alcoholic.
I'm also really into that general "culture of sharing" in Korea. It's not only a really nice thing to do. You also get to taste a lot more different things. :)

Hungry foxes, books and hanok

I fell crazy in love with 한옥 (hanok). They are so pretty! When I'm all grown up, one day, I'll live in one and offer Korean teas and read 만화 all day.

PS: Yes. I bought a children's book about a fox who likes to eat books and gets in trouble for it. Still trying to decipher it bit by bit. I'm glad it has lots of pictures.

I just recently got back from two fantastic weeks in South Korea. You might have to expect some more comics about my impressions...

On a sidenote: Mayyybe, one fine day, I will actually use proper materials and not have to confront you with those crappy scans of doodles in flimsy cheap notebooks (sorry!).

Google forgot me (I hope)

Many of you have noticed that this blog has been set to "private" for quite a while now. I do not want to get too elaborate here but due to some sort of unfortunate accident Google found out about my full "real-life" name. This caused me a lot of sweat and made me think about what I want to be public about myself, whether I should start a new blog and/or "self-censor" my comics a bit more... I know that - even though I love to be very open with my comics and pictures - I'm somehow not so comfortable with the thought of my boss reading that I waxed my pussy for a BDSM party.
To cut a long story short, the wonderful people at femgeeks provided me with a lot of helpful information and also with kind, consoling words. In the end, a miracle happened and I actually found what linked my name to my blog and was able to remedy that connection... and after a while Google forgot about that link (I hope foreverandever).
So, yay! E*phi=log will be back! Thanks again to my femgeeky heroines (and sorry if I wasn't able to reply to every single one of you! You're in my heart and your help is so much appreciated!!)

Derby Nerdism

Since I was ill this weekend (and couldn't go to derby practice *cry*) I had plenty of time getting bored of lying around in my bed and looking for my good old polymer clay (which gets totally hard and crumbly if you don't store it well, kids! Learn from my mistaken life.). This is based on my actual skates (size is approximately half a thumb - I mean the part above that joint. You know what I mean. Maybe.):

I also scanned some quick'n'dirty sketches which I did at SKOD in Gent (I didn't draw as much as I had planned though - was too busy being all excited and screaming my heart out for the Bombshells and stuff.)

Fabulous lazy sketchy evening

Finally got to scan this, which was made several weeks ago during a lovely lazy drawing evening with an old friend visiting me here in Berlin (miss you, M!).

Roller Derby saved my soul. And plyo killed my body!

Last Wednesday was my first day of (roller derby) plyo training. When we were supposed to "just walk" around for cool-down it seemed as if the connection between my brain and my leg muscles had been broken. @_@
It's been several days now and my legs still feel super weird when I walk (read: oh the paiiiiinnn!!!111!). However, the hopeless masochist inside me can't wait till next Wednesday.

Who killed Pinkie Pie

So, today after work I followed the spontaneous impulse to try saving some money by coloring my hair myself. Well, my bathroom now looks as if I had murdered Pinkie Pie. In an insanely cruel way. Not talking about my clothes, ear and neck.

Unfortunately, the box didn't include one of those disposable plastic "shower" caps so I layered cling film, aluminum foil and a trash bag and put a towel on top. Let me tell you, the whole thing was quite the process and a huge mess.

Nevertheless, I'm actually quite pleased how the color turned out - even without bleaching first:

I just really really hope the color doesn't wash out too fast. All this work...!!

Landlord letter heart attack

This shit is real. Apparently, I misunderstood my contract and never ever paid operating costs since I moved in, plus there's a supplementary payment due to running costs having gone up. Holy shit.
My landlord was pretty nice about it though (as nice as a landlord could possibly be if you're owing him roughly a grand!), noting that he's sure it's just been a misunderstanding and offering payment per installments and stuff.

Black and white and everything in between

I'm really sorry for playing possum for such a long while. I've been up to a lot (again - life has a tendency to get in the way, hasn't it?). Like, starting to play roller derby (now that's some huge euphemism - but more on that in a later post, possibly in form of a comic). Or learning how to develop my own negatives and make prints (b/w). I love it (and the chemistry geek in me does so even more)! Here is my very first "handmade" photo:

It kinda feels like a terrible blasphemy to upload a scan of an analog, manually developed photo on my blog...

There are definitely some "errors" and things I'd have done differently that I see now, but on the whole I really like it. This is, by the way, the beautiful owner of a neat little Berlin based shop called Lashopp (she's still working on her online shop I believe, but there's also some stuff on her dawanda, if you're interested).

Also, my beloved favorite sister sweetheart sent me a real ...err... Japanese ink stone (?? what is the correct name of that stuff?). Here's my first attempt of using it (you may recognize the subject ;) This quick sketch was done earlier already from the first tiny contact print):

I can't seem to get a really dark black from it though. Not sure if I'm even supposed to. Anyone got some experience with this kind of ink?
